Academics from Sheffield told politicians and business leaders in Doncaster that tackling climate change could help boost the borough’s productivity.
Participants, including local MP Ed Miliband discussed how Doncaster businesses are embracing the need to be more environmentally friendly and the contribution these efforts are making towards achieving net zero carbon emissions. They looked at how much this is costing and how the council and national government can support businesses to work in partnership to harness the opportunities presented by green technology.
Professor Tim Vorley, Co-Director of the Productivity Insights Network at the University of Sheffield, said: “Incentivising businesses to deliver on the green growth agenda is central to Doncaster and the UK becoming a more inclusive and sustainable economy, and will also encourage innovation, open up new markets and potentially enhance productivity.”
